No matter the time of year, it's never too late to make a donation to your favorite animal-supporting organization - HAHS!

HAHS is a fully-registered, 501(c)3, non-profit corporation so all donations are tax deductible.

Since HAHS has no paid staff nor permanent facility to pay for, you can be assured that at least 90% of your donation amount goes directly towards the purpose for which it was intended - helping the animals!

Apart from general cash donations, HAHS patrons can direct their help towards a few specific issues:

You can ground mail a check, drop off a donation in person at an Adopt-a-Pet location, or use PayPal's secure, online system to make a donation directly to HAHS. You do NOT have to create or already have a PayPal account to use their free service:

Donations can help sponsor our animals' spay and neuter procedures.

Memorials:

A Lost Companion

Many donations come from people who have lost someone dear, either a two- or four-footed friend.

Memorial donations are typically highlighted inside our "Helping Animals" newsletter, as another way of remembering our pals.

Linda Collins Fund for Special Needs Animals

The Linda Collins Memorial Fund for Special Needs Animals was established in June, 2000 to raise money dedicated to treating the medical problems of special needs animals. Examples of medical needs that will be addressed by this fund are heartworm treatment, surgery, or medicines while the cat or dog is in foster care. As money from this fund is raised and spent, the animals saved will be profiled in our newsletter.

Linda Sue Collins was a HAHS volunteer who developed the first HAHS Web site. She was also active in the adoption events. Linda died on June 23, 1998 as a result of a rafting accident in Colorado. She was a certified registered nurse anesthetist and was survived by her son, Lindy, and her husband, Stephen.

One hundred percent of the money donated to this fund will be used for Special Needs animals.

Supply Materials:

Some community groups like Boy Scouts in the past have banded together their own local task force to help collect pet toys, cat litter, towels or small blankets - and donated the whole carload to HAHS animals!

An elementary school "class project" can demonstrate early community involvement and helps today's kids become more aware of issues or situations they might not normally come into contact with, like the purpose of an animal shelter, having new pets to care for at home, finding 4-footed companions for retired or widowed owners, etc.

We've even heard of an elementary school girl who decided that instead of birthday presents for herself, she asked each party attendee to bring a small cat or dog toy to be donated to their local shelter!

Employees at the American Public Works Association collected items for HAHS at an office party. They held a "Dog Day" of summer and invited everyone to bring snacks, pictures of their pets and donations for HAHS. Two employees entered their cats adopted from HAHS in the photo contest. Donations included lots of food, treats, toys and some cleaning supplies. A medium -sized carrier and some cash were also donated.
